Patients coming to OPD are examined thoroughly by our competent doctors for various orthopedic problems. Those who require referrals are sent to the concerned departments. Patients referred to various PSRD service units during the year are as follows:

Reception and Registration Counter

This counter is the gateway to PSRD where all incoming patients report and get registered for socio-economic assessment on prescribed formates.

Social Welfare Department

Social Welfare Department awards categories viz. A, B, C, D, and E according to the economic status of the patients. Patients assessed in category E are treated totally free. The department is managed by two qualified and experienced Social Welfare Officers (SWO), who:

• Recommend concessions to deserving patient for provision of appliances in the Limb Centre. During the year, 1,755 concession cases were recommended.
• Every year SWOs facilitate and train students from Social Work Department, University of Punjab and visitor students from other educational institutions. During the year 25 groups comprising 1,660 students visited PSRD. 
• During the period, 8,019 patients and their relatives were provided information regarding the admission procedure, approximate cost of treatment and operation for each category.

During the past year, SWD assessed 23,195 new cases.The breakdown of the categories is given in the following table.
