Doll like 7 year old Bakhtawar is a lively and very special child. Her mother sensed from the time of birth that her first baby was different. She was diagnoses as Cerebral Palsy and Bilateral Equinus Deformity of feet. At the age of 2 she was brought to OPD and was referred for continuous treatment and therapies in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Departments. She was admitted in the CP class later. A small wheelchair was given to her initially. When asked once she told her teacher that her biggest desire was to play and to run after her younger sisters. Finally her desire has come true. After a complicated Postero Medial Release (PMR) surgery on her feet by the grace of God she is able to walk now without any help and support. We proudly announce that she was promoted to regular classes in march 2005.
My name is Nasir Butt. I am in 10th class. I was bound to a wheel chair when I came to PSRD. Surgeons operated me and by the grace of Allah I got rid of wheelchairs and started using crutches. For me switching from wheelchair to crutches was the ever expected blessing. Now I am able to do things with out anybody’s help. I was always inspired by the body builders and always wished to have muscular body like them. I thought that it’s just a dream and I can never make it true. But PSRD has changed this dream to reality and today it’s been three years that I am participating in different national and international competitions of body building and won several medals. I went to Greece to attend an international competition. It was like an unbelievable happiness to me that I never ever thought about. I can say with profound pleasure and pride that PSRD has made a difference to my life.
Shirin Sarfraz, 20 year old girl came to PSRD in April 08, with C.P Quadriplegic, Athetoid diagnosed. She had involuntary movements in her whole body due to which she was unable to hold her neck and perform any activity. She also had poor perception, co-ordination and communication skills and also suffering from motor planning deficits. Our therapists trained her, through therapeutic activities, in her ADL’s that now she can do bathe, eat, drink, cook and go to the toilet on her own. Her unilateral disregard has completely vanished after practicing bilateral activities. Her level of perception and cognation has also improved greatly after doing a lot of problem solving activities. After receiving hand therapy her fine motor skills have improved to the extent that she can thread a needle and also do simple embroidery. After counseling her communication skills have also improved. She and her family members are highly pleased to see her independence.

Aside he is doing only 3 subjects (Urdu, English & Maths). He is very courageous boy and inspite of severely disabled he is earning Rs. 2,000/- per month from his learned skills and helping his family.
Muhammad Mustafa was stricken by polio when he was only six years old. He came to PSRD for treatment on crutches. Our Orthopaedic surgeons examined him in detail and advised 4 operations in order to rehabilitate him fully. These surgeries were performed over a period of five months. Mustafa’s parents were very keen that their son should be educated, so they decided to admit him to the PSRD High School. Today Mustafa is in grade 8th and is able to walk properly with the help of braces. Mustafa has shown brilliant academic performance and was given double promotion twice in different classes. Besides academics he is exceptional in debates and sports. In power lifting tournament, Malaysia 2008 he won a gold medal and brought honor not only to PSRD but also for Pakistan.
